DENVER – An 11-year-old boy was killed in a hit and run auto-pedestrian accident that occurred Sunday night in West Denver and a suspect is under arrest in Aurora.
An uncle of the boy told 7NEWS the 11-year-old was walking to his mother’s house with his 14-year-old cousin when he was hit.
Police said the accident happened at 8 p.m. on Federal Boulevard over West Colfax Avenue as the driver was going north on Federal.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
7NEWS reporter Russell Haythorn said police were looking for a dark blue Dodge Charger that left part of its front bumper and front license plate at the scene. Police found the car at an Aurora home and arrested the suspected driver — a man — in connection with the hit-and-run..
Earlier, a motorcyclist was injured in a hit-and-run at West 10th Avenue and Knox Court. The victim was seriously injured when they were hit before 7 p.m.
Metro Denver Crime Stoppers said police are looking for a dark-colored Chevrolet Blazer with a possible license plate of 148 WXY. They said the plate may be off by one letter or number.
